Learning To Drive The Next Higher Class Vehicle

Conditions that apply when learning to drive under your provisional or open licence

 

When learning to drive, you must:

 

  • Be accompanied by a person who holds and has held an open licence for the class of vehicle you are learning in, for at least one year

  • Clearly display L-plates at the front and rear of the vehicle

  • Carry your licence with you and show it to a police officer when asked to do so

  • Obey any conditions stated on your licence

  • Do not drive under the influence of illegal or prescription drugs

  • Comply with the no alcohol limit (0.00). Drink driving offences carry monetary fines and disqualification periods.
